Bin Hu

Dr. Bin Hu is a distinguished Professor at Lanzhou University, China, with adjunct professorships at the Open University, UK, and the School of Medical Technology, Beijing Institute of Technology, China.

A world-renowned expert in Pervasive Affective Computing, he has been honored as a Fellow of the IEEE, IET, and AAIA. He actively contributes to the academic community as an IET Fellow Assessor & Fellowship Advisor​ and holds key editorial roles, including Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Computational Social Systems and Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Affective Computing and National Science Review.

His research impact is evidenced by an extensive publication record of over 600 peer-reviewed papers, amassing more than 27,000 citations​ and an h-index of 84. His work includes 33 ESI Highly Cited Papers, and he has been consistently recognized as a Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher, Stanford and Elsevier’s World’s Top 2% Scientist, and ranked among the top 0.05% of scholars by ScholarGPS.

He has received numerous prestigious awards, such as the ACM China Distinguished Scholar, Wiley China Excellent Author Program, WIPO–CNIPA Award for Chinese Outstanding Patented Invention, and the National Technology Invention Award.

Professor Hu has demonstrated exceptional leadership in building and managing large-scale, multi-country research programs as Principal Investigator, including major European FP7 health/ICT initiatives​ (e.g., OPTIMI) and major national programs in China (e.g., NSFC and National Key R&D Projects).

He also provides significant strategic leadership and stewardship in global professional societies and conferences. He is a recognized leader within the IEEE and ACM​ and has served in key roles such as General Chair for major international conferences including BESC 2025 and IEEE BIBM 2025.
